L3 · Calendar cycles: days of the week and months of the year

Learning goal

“I can name the days of the week and the months of the year, in order.”

Calendar — a chart that shows the days, weeks, and months of a year.
Week — seven days in a row.
Month — one of the twelve parts of a year.
Year — twelve months. Then a new year starts.
Worked example

The week strip. Step 1: The days go in this order: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Step 2: Saturday is the last day on the strip. Step 3: After Saturday, the week starts again with Sunday. Say it plainly: a week has 7 days, and the days go around in a cycle.

Check yourself — explain it

Why does Sunday come after Saturday?

Paired problem — example still visible

What day comes after Thursday? -> Friday

Faded completion — last step is yours

"Monday, Tuesday, ___, Thursday." -> Wednesday
