GRADE 1 · ALBERTAOUTCOME AB-G1-1T1
L2 · Seasons: a cycle of change (incl. First Nations, Métis, or Inuit practices)
Learning goal
“I can name the four seasons in order, and I can tell how the seasons help First Nations, Métis, and Inuit families know what to do.”
Season — one part of the year. There are four: spring, summer, fall, winter.
Cycle — something that happens again and again, in the same order.
Change — how things look different. Leaves change colour in fall.
Worked example
One tree, four seasons. Step 1: In spring, the snow melts. New buds grow on the tree. Step 2: In summer, the tree is green and the days are hot. Step 3: In fall, the leaves turn red and drop to the ground. Step 4: In winter, the tree is bare and snow covers the ground. Say it plainly: the seasons go spring, summer, fall, winter - then spring again.
