L4 · Shapes hiding inside shapes

Learning goal

“I can find the shapes hiding inside a bigger picture and name them all.”

Inside — in the middle of something, or part of it.
Hide — to be in a place where you must look to find it.
Part — one smaller piece of a bigger shape (from L3).
Worked example

A house picture. Its walls are a square. Its roof is a triangle. Its door is a small rectangle. One window is a small square. Step 1: Hunt shape by shape. Squares: the walls and the window - 2 squares. Step 2: Triangles: the roof - 1 triangle. Step 3: Rectangles: the door - 1 rectangle. Say it plainly: look at the picture one part at a time. Every part is a shape you already know. Name them all.

Check yourself — explain it

Paired problem — example still visible

A caterpillar picture is made of 4 circles in a row. How many circles hide in the caterpillar? -> 4 circles
